Students and teachers at Sonnet Montessori in Lakeville hosted a High Tea on February 28; guests included Representative Jon Koznick (Senate District 57A), Luke Hellier (Mayor, City of Lakeville), Justin Miller (Lakeville City Manager), Brad Paulson (Lakeville Chief of Police), Krista Jech (President, Lakeville Chamber of Commerce), and Brittany Wright (Program Manager, Governor’s Children’s Cabinet).

The tea was held in honor of worldwide Montessori Education Week. The Minnesota governor’s office also observed Montessori Education Week, affirming that the method encourages “learning, independence, and self-confidence” and advances “the principles of peace through civic responsibility.” The Montessori method of education was developed in the early 20th century by Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian educator, scientist, and physician.
